e.Star Infotech Ltd was incorporated on 23rd December, 1999, as a private limited company under the name and style "Starwar Infotech Private Limited". The name was changed to the present one on 19th January, 2000, subsequently it was converted into a public limited company on 8th February, 2000. The main objects of the company are: To import, export, develop and otherwise deal in computers of all kinds, computer software, hardware, microprocessor, chips, component parts and floppy diskettes, CDs, multimedia, printers, ribbon, magnetic tapes, cassettes and other allied materials, computer data processing machines, computer peripherals, accessories and components, desk top publishing, internet, intranet and surfing centres and to offer consultancy and other services, to conduct coaching classes, seminars, workshops and other educational courses in data processing, software, hardware and other similar fields. The company is planning to acquire an area of 6000 Sq.ft in the vicinity of IT park in Mumbai, for carrying out Software development and Training activities. The company has developed its own software packages like Sales Inventory and Marketing for its clients like Mobile Telecommunication Limited, Earnest Centre for Software Development and Training and also has registered websites which are under the process of development. e.Star Infotech Ltd is presently promoted by Mr.Mahesh Thanvi, Mr.Arvind Thanvi and Mr.Bankat Sharma. Mr.Mahesh Thanvi is a Science Graduate and has done AMIE (Mech) and Diploma in Business Management. He started his own business in 1989 as a partner in M/s B.R.Metals. This partnership was dissolved in 1992. In 1992 he started another Partnership Firm in the name M/s Universal Industrial Papers. This firm is not operative since March 1996. Since 1992 he started M/s B.R Enterprises, which is no more operative. In 1997 he started M/s Multi Trade Corporation for the export of electronic components and peripherals and embroidered garments. Mr.Arvind Thanvi is a BE (Arch) from IIT Kharagpur. He has done architecture and design of various housing and Commercial projects and is a registered Architect and registered member of Council of Architecture, India. Mr.Bankat R Sharma is a BE (Electronics). He has Experience of 8 years. He worked with Zenith Computers Ltd., was responsible for installation and servicing of various Hardware Systems, i.e., Multimedia Based Machines, Home PC. |

The Indian software industry has seen considerable growth over the past several years with CAGR of 56% between 1994-1995. The growth has largely been fueled by certain competitive advantages, with regard to the international Software business. The industry comprises two parts, Indian market and export market. Exports are doing well, growing at about 55% yearly. The domestic market is not growing at a fast rate, mainly because of government instability. Duty for Software products has gone down.
