| Realizing the
importance of a very strong foundation in the form of a rigorous and quality oriented
training, Karvy launched,in the month of July 1999, an in-house training institute for
Medical Transcription training called the CBay Karvy Academy for Medical Transcription, in
collaboration with CBay Systems Incorporated, USA.
Highlights
- This Academy is unique and one of its kind established with
the sole aim of producing quality Medical Transcriptionists.
- The academy which is located in the Karvy Office in Hyderabad,
has so far trained 150 Medical Transcriptionists, all of whom have been placed.
- The academy houses all the infrastructure required for
training 150 students at a time. The technology is state-of-the-art. It has three
classrooms and three computer labs with 150 machines, all loaded with 12 different
softwares.
- The team of trainers include experienced and research oriented
Doctors, American English Experts and Senior Medical Transcriptionists who have been
trained in USA.
- The training offered at the academy is a full-time one and for
a duration of 6 months (5 months of classroom training and 1 month of On-the-job-training
(OJT) ).
Training Coverage
- Medicine – Human Anatomy and medical terminology
- English – Syntax, Grammar, Punctuation, Listening
Comprehension
- Computers – Introduction, Windows 98, Ms Office 2000 and
other MT related training
- Typing – Typing practice till the MT achieves a speed of
50 words per minute
- Medical Transcription - Practice on all the system related MT
tapes (Beginners and Advance Medical Transcription tapes, Formatting,
Transcription rules etc.
- Expected accuracy from the MT at the end of training is 90 %
- Besides all the above there will be classes on Americanisms
and American phonetics.
- The 1 month of On-The-Job-Training is the last phase of
training where the trainee is made to work in a simulated production environment which
prepares the trainee for the actual job.
- The course structure and curriculum is designed as per the
guidelines of AAMT (American Association for Medical Transcription), the apex body
for MT in USA (www.aamt.org)
- The entire training is stringent and rigorous. Weekly Tests
and final tests are conducted in all the subjects.
- There is constant counseling to all the trainees during the
six months and their performance in all the subjects is closely monitored.
- At the end of the six months, CBay conducts a certification
test in Medicine, English and MT. Upon clearing the Certification test, a trainee gets a
certificate from CBay and a job at Karvy or its accredited centers.
