Aadhar card is one of the most important documents of identification that can be used if you are an Indian citizen. But in case you do not have an Aadhar card and want to apply for one, you have to fill up a form that is available online on the official website of Centre and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Then, you have to submit the form to an authorized enrolment centre.

Along with the form, you have to submit certain documents that will be used for verifying your personal information. So, before applying you must know about the documents required for Aadhar card. And, they are:

• Documents for verifying date of birth
• Proof of relationship, including marriage certificate

You will need these documents even if you have an Aadhar card, and want to make some changes in the information you have provided earlier. You have to submit self-attested copies of these documents.

Some documents are required for verifying your residential address so that your Aadhar card can be delivered there. The address proof documents required for new Aadhar card are:

• Bank passbook or account statement
• Post office passbook or account statement

• A photo ID card issued by the government
• Driving license
• Service photo ID card issued by PSU
• Water bill, not more than 3 months old
• Last three months’ electricity bill

Date of birth proof documents required for new Aadhar card

The documents that you can be used as proof for your date of birth are:
• SSLC book or certificate
• Certificate of DOB signed by a group A gazetted officer
• Passport
• PAN card
• Mark sheet authorized by a university or a government board
• Date of birth certificate authorized by a gazetted officer or a tehsildar on the letterhead
• Health Service Scheme photo card
• A photo ID card for Ex-Servicemen Health Scheme

Documents required for Relationship proof

You can submit a copy of the following documents to verify your relationship with the family’s head while applying for Aadhar card:
• MNREGA job card
• The applicant’s passport
• Pension card
• CGHS, ESIC or ECHS medical card authorized by the government
• Army canteen card
• PDS card
• Document of family entitlement issued by the central or the state government
• Birth certificate issued by the state government

For children, documents required for the Aadhar card application remain the same. However, if you are a parent, you have to provide a copy of your Aadhar card along with those documents. But, the children below the age of 5 do not have to submit their biometric data.
